WNYMBA Launches new Website

Six years is a long time in internet time, so it definitely was time for WNYMBA to upgrade its web site technology.  The old site was put together in 2004, using at-the-time state of the art php/MySQL database driven technology.

However, while the various pages were generated dynamically, much of the content was static and had to be edited manually to be updated.  Some elements were tied to the lounge software so that updates could be made through lounge posts.

However, that posed a bigger problem where some folks got to thinking the lounge was WNYMBA rather than a bunch of posts by the community at large.

So now WNYMBA has moved on to a modern Content Management System (CMS).  A CMS allows authorized members of WNYMBA to provide updates and news without having to manually edit HTML code; it's as easy as using a web-based word processor.  At its launch, the new web site includes content that more or less mirrors what the old site had, but we intend to add more and more stuff as we move forward.

Our insurance company has "strongly suggested" that we tell you that Mountain Biking can be dangerous. If you're visiting this site it's very likely that you're already aware that if you insist on having a good time by riding your mountain bike, eventually you will almost certainly fall down and collect any number of boo-boos, dings and injuries, serious or otherwise, but we have to tell you anyway.

Mountain Biking is a potentially hazardous activity carrying a significant risk of bodily injury and even death. Mountain biking should only be undertaken if you have a complete awareness of these risks. You can reduce the level of risk by wearing a helmet and by riding within your own skill level.
