For those that don't know me, I work for the NY State University Police at UB. Every June since 2003 we have hosted a Police Bike Patrol school. This school is forty hours long and is certified by the NY Dept. of Criminal Justice Services. Over the last nine years we have trained nearly 200 police officers representing just about every law enforcement agency in western New York.
This includes military police, US Border Patrol, Dept of Homeland Security, NYS Troopers, most major municipalities and both sheriff departments within Erie and Niagara Counties.
In recognition of our tenth year, on Thursday June 28, 2012 we are hosting a bike patrol skills competition for all officers that have completed the course. The course will include various obstacles, Glock simunition gun target shooting, and other police specific bike skills. We expect lots of thrills and a few spills!
In addition to the competition, there will be a BBQ picnic catered by UB Food Service, beer, a pig roast(insert favorite cop joke here

) by Buffalo Meatheads and live music by Wheelhouse. If you are DCJS certified bike patrol officer(active or retired), the cost to compete and eat is $35, spectators are $25. All proceeds wll be donated to WNY Concerns of Police Survivors.
I have tickets or you can visit this website if you'd prefer to purchase online.
