Holy cow there's a lot planned!  Six E-ville, and two each at Hunters and Spague.  Those trails are going to kick ass!

Archery tournament returns to Holiday Valley again

Our Friends at Holiday Valley asked us to pass along the word that they are again hosting the international bowhunters organization (IBO) championships this year.  This has been a highly successful event for HV.  HV has provided us with grant money this year, and hosting events such as IBO helps provide that funding.

Of course, nobody wants to be riding around in front of flying arrows, so the trails at Holiday Valley will be closed during the event.

Here are the details from HV Mountain Manager Steve Crowley:

"Would you please spread the word that Holiday Valley is hosting the IBO again this year. The Archery event runs from August 5th through August 10th. We will need to have all trails at Holiday Valley closed that week. We are also using some State land right across Mutton Hollow rd from Spruce Lake, we will be clear of the bike trail there but if you add to be cautious in that area to your message it will be appreciated.  Thank You for your help."

We almost made it!

WNYMBA would like to be the first to congratulate Richmond Virginia MORE on winning the East Coast Bell Built grant.  WNYMBA is proud of the deep support that we received throughout the Western New York community.  Even though we were unsuccessful in pursuit of this grant, losing 13,896 - 13,029, we believe that it is a win for WNYMBA and Western New York to realize the enthusiasm and effectiveness of this particular group of volunteers - WNYMBA - in our continuing efforts to make Western New York a better place.  Even without this grant, WNYMBA will continue in our efforts to develop trails in the forests of WNY, and will continue to pursue grant opportunities to develop a wider variety of trail types in our area, including more flow, downhill, and beginner trails.

Special thanks go out the to the following for doing a tremendous amount of work spreading the word about this contest and helping WNYMBA to a strong second place finish:

  • Holiday Valley
  • Elllicottville Chamber of Commerce
  • Cattaraugus County Tourism
  • Ellicottville Brewing Company

In addition, we'd like to thank the Wonderful Community of WNY and all the many individuals who dug in and helped with our campaign. You know who you are and so do we – thanks!

Just wanted to thank everyone who supported our effort to win funding to build a world class flow trail at Holiday Valley.

We had a terrific voter turnout, and came within 5% of the votes needed to win.

We are hoping to turn this into a win by some other means.

Again, thank all of you for your support.

Dennis did a great job as our Bell Built video star, and many thanks to Holiday Valley's Ashley for putting it all together.  Bell used it right as we submitted rather than making it from various clips.  But we still provided them with additional clips and stills per their request; they just never were used.  Now, they will see the light of day.

For our first outtake, here is our very own Toddler explaining why you need to vote!

Our insurance company has "strongly suggested" that we tell you that Mountain Biking can be dangerous. If you're visiting this site it's very likely that you're already aware that if you insist on having a good time by riding your mountain bike, eventually you will almost certainly fall down and collect any number of boo-boos, dings and injuries, serious or otherwise, but we have to tell you anyway.

Mountain Biking is a potentially hazardous activity carrying a significant risk of bodily injury and even death. Mountain biking should only be undertaken if you have a complete awareness of these risks. You can reduce the level of risk by wearing a helmet and by riding within your own skill level.
